Deputy Mary Le Hegarat

Minister for Justice and Home Affairs BY EMAIL

10th January 2025 Dear Minister,

Domestic Abuse (Jersey) Law 2022

As the date for the first quarterly hearing with you has moved from 11th February 2025 to 27th February 2025, the Panel would be grateful if you would respond to one of its questions in writing in advance of the hearing.

The Panel is aware of calls to expand the Domestic Abuse (Jersey) Law 2022 to cover incidents predating its enactment. We would be grateful if you would respond in writing to confirm your view on applying the law retrospectively and, also, to confirm if, or how, public and stakeholder opinion has been collected on this subject.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. The Panel looks forward to your formal response and would request this is received by Monday 17th February 2025.

Yours sincerely,

Deputy Catherine Curtis
