The States Greffe is the department that provides behind-the-scenes support to ensure that parliamentary business runs smoothly. The department is responsible for keeping the official records of the States Assembly and advising States Members on the procedures of the Assembly, but there's far more to it than that. 

The team at the States Greffe undertake a huge range of activities to help States Members and to make sure that Islanders are informed and involved with the important decisions that affect our daily lives. 

We are researchers, problem solvers, creative thinkers, meticulous record keepers, explainers and educators, and all this while maintaining political impartiality.

Current vacancies:

Communications Officer

The States Greffe is looking for a highly motivated professional to join their Digital and Public Engagement team on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

The successful candidate will be involved with a range of activities, from drafting press notices and social media content to helping to create and deliver informative, engaging campaigns to help Islanders understand and engage with the States Assembly – Jersey’s elected parliament. The timing of this contract will mean the post holder will be an integral part of the delivery of Jersey’s 2026 election campaign.

Interested in becoming a States Member?

Jersey's next elections are in 2026.  If you're interested in standing, check that you are eligible. 

If you want to stand as a Deputy, you must be at least 18 years old and a British Citizen who has been:

  • (a) resident in Jersey for at least two years up to and including the day of the election, or
  • (b) resident in Jersey for six months up to and including the day of the election, as well as a total period of five years previously.

If you want to stand as a Constable, the above applies and you must reside in the Parish you wish to represent
