The States Assembly appoints a range of bodies with functions that relate to the States Assembly or to the work of elected Staes Members.
For important reasons of governance, these bodies operate independently of the Assembly and are not subject to direction by States Members. This stems from the roles played by these bodies that include:
- undertaking audit functions;
- providing independent advice and input to the Assembly on specified questions and subjects;
- investigating complaints; and
- acting in areas where no political influence should be seen or felt, or where States Members are seen to be conflicted.
