Freedom of Information legislation gives you the right to access information held by public authorities.
Under The Freedom of Information (Jersey) Law 2011 (FOI), everyone has equal rights, including access to information about the States Assembly (including Ministers) and the States Greffe.
You can use this information for a wide range of things, including:
-
learning more about how public authorities work in Jersey
-
taking part in debates about issues that may affect you or your family
-
helping you to develop ideas or inform your business decisions
Information on how to make an FOI request can be found on the Government of Jersey website. Before submitting an FOI request, you must ensure you have checked:
-
Whether the information that you are requesting is already published and available to you
-
That you are not requesting your own personal information (see FOI and Data Protection: the difference)
Requests must be submitted in writing. The easiest way to submit a FOI request is by using the online request form on the Gov.je website.
