The Jersey Youth Assembly is your chance to get involved and have your voice heard by the Island’s decision makers.

The Jersey Youth Assembly (JYA) exists to make sure young people like you have a real say in the decisions shaping the Island.

JYA members will be right at the heart of the action, having the opportunity to contribute to the issues that matter to you. You’ll get to speak directly with decision-makers, build next-level skills, and connect with what’s happening in Jersey’s democracy and even beyond.

The JYA is all about giving you the tools, the confidence, and the platform to contribute to change now, while setting you up for whatever path you want to take in the future.

The JYA is the place to be if you want to:

Talk to the people in power: Meet decision-makers face-to-face and let them know what really matters to you.

Get involved in big projects: Your voice counts. Be part of the conversations and projects shaping Jersey’s future.

With 24 Members participating, proceedings began with JYA Members asking both scheduled and unscheduled questions to four Government Ministers. Watch the recording back below.

Engaging with the Jersey Youth Assembly

The Jersey Youth Assembly welcomes collaboration with States Members, Government departments, charities, businesses, and other organisations. This could include a JYA inquiry group contributing to a workstream or an organisation offering work experience opportunities for JYA members.

Ready to unlock your power and make a difference?

The Jersey Youth Assembly is built around three main parts – each one gives you the chance to get stuck in, step up as a leader, and grow your skills and confidence along the way.

1. Take action!

Join an Inquiry Group and grab the chance to dive into real issues, do some hands-on research, and learn how to get your voice heard. You’ll build top-tier communication skills and actually help shape policies that affect your life and your island.

2. Be a JYA leader

Step up and become a leader in the Executive Group. Think of this as the leadership squad. Each year, around five JYA members get elected to the Executive Group to lead the way, keep things running smoothly, and act as the link between the Jersey Youth Assembly and the people in power.

If you want an opportunity to up your game, take charge and make sure young people’s voices are heard loud and clear, the Executive Group is the place for you.

3. Level up skills and confidence

From public speaking to negotiation and leadership, this strand is all about boosting your skills. Whether you’re into making change or just want to grow your confidence, the learning and development opportunities on offer to JYA members will help you become a strong and informed voice in your community.
