The 13th Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP) is being held on 26-31 July in Sydney, Australia and Jersey is looking for two standout young people to take part.The CYP is an exciting opportunity offered by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association for 18–29-year-olds from across the Commonwealth to get together to learn about how politics and parliamentary processes work.
Applicants for this incredible opportunity need to:
- Be 18-29
- Have an interest in parliamentary affairs and the Commonwealth
- Demonstrate potential leadership qualities such as an ability to effect change
- Evidence commitment to their local community
- Hold excellent communication skills and confidence to participate in every element of the programme
- A copy of your CV
- A cover letter of no more than 500 words, detailing your suitability for the role with reference to the above-mentioned criteria
Deputy Robert Ward, Chair of the Jersey Branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, said: ‘Jersey’s work with the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is important because it raises awareness of the Island on an international stage and increases knowledge of parliamentary best practice. This year’s Commonwealth Youth Parliament in Sydney, Australia, offers our young people an incredible opportunity to prove themselves alongside their Commonwealth peers, to learn how parliaments work, and perhaps lay foundations for a future in politics.’
