The States Meeting began with a statement from the Minister for Environment, Deputy Steve Luce.
The Minister was responding to the findings of the Complaints Board regarding his department’s decision not to issue an abatement notice in accordance with the Statutory Nuisances (Jersey) Law.

Public Business
P. 64 Suspension: Deputy P.F.C. Ozouf of St. Saviour
The Privileges and Procedures Committee proposed that Deputy Philip Ozouf of St Saviour be suspended for 28 days, with immediate effect, for breaches of the States Members’ Code of Conduct.
The proposition follows a recent investigation by the Commissioner for Standards in relation to public complaints submitted against the Deputy following a motoring offence.
The States Assembly voted to APPROVE PPC's proposition with 29 votes for, 17 votes against and 3 abstentions.

P.24 Draft Residential Tenancy (Jersey) Amendment Law 202-.
The Minister for Housing, Deputy Sam Mézec proposed amendments to the Residential Tenancy Law, which seek to:

enhance security of tenure for tenants;

encourage more settled longer tenancies;
-
ensure landlords continue to make stable rental returns but can reclaim their properties when needed; and
-
ensure both tenants and landlords have clearly set out responsibilities.
A number of amendments have been proposed to the proposition, some of which have been accepted by the Minister.
