REPORTING ON MINISTERIAL AFFAIRS (P.71/2024): AMENDMENT (P.71/2024 AMD.) – COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 31st January 2025 by the Chief Minister

STATES GREFFE

2024  P.71 Amd.Com.(2)

COMMENTS

The Council of Ministers presented comments on P.71/2024 on 6th December 2024 explaining that that while they accepted the principle, the practicalities of implementing the  proposition  needed  further  consideration  (P.71/2024(Com.)  refers).  The Amendment does not materially change this position.

The Privileges and Procedures Committee have similarly outlined in their comments concerns around the need for more detail or clarity, and that further work is required to ensure that changes are fair and appropriate (P.71/2024(Amd.)(Com.) refers).

Ministers are aligned with the position of the Committee, and would be pleased to work with them, and their Machinery of Government sub-Committee, on practical measures to increase reporting around travel and meetings for all elected members.

Accordingly, Ministers do not support the Amendment.
