The draft law will extend the permitted purposes for which information supplied to credit reference agencies subject to Article 5A of the Register of Names and Addresses (Jersey) Law 2012 can be processed, to now include law enforcement purposes. This amendment addresses a limitation of the Register of Names and Addresses (Amendment) (Jersey) Law 2023 which unintentionally restricted the application this common purpose for processing under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2017. Children are not considered to be impacted by this amendment as the supply of information under the existing Article 5A is limited to persons who have attained full age (18 years of age) – see Article 5A(8). |
