The Social Security (Long Term Disability Allowance) Amendment Regulations will amend the Social Security (Jersey) Law to modernise Long Term Health benefits. These Regulations help to meet that goal by creating a framework to replace a patchwork of four older long-term health benefits with a single new system built around a modern assessment model and an improved customer experience.

2)  Which groups of children and young people are likely to be affected?

Groups of children could include early years, primary or secondary education; young adults; children with additional learning needs; disabled children; children living in poverty; children from particular ethnic backgrounds; migrants; refugees; care experienced children and LGBTQ+ children

A child who is a dependent of a recipient of the updated long term health benefit may be indirectly impacted by the proposed changes insofar as the award value provided to their responsible adult.

3)  What is the likely impact of the proposed decision on children and on their rights?

• Identify any potential positive OR negative impacts and include indirect impacts on children and their rights as described in the UNCRC

• Will different groups of children be affected differently by this decision?

This legislation does not impact on children's rights because the affected benefits can only be claimed by adults who have made contributions into the Social Security Fund

No, as the rights of children are not directly impacted by the proposed changes.
