Chief Minister A1. The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. A11 of 28th April 2025, Poll considered draft comments which had been prepared in response to P.33/2025, (P.33/2025): which had been lodged au Greffe' by Deputy K.L. Moore of St. Mary , St. Ouen and comments. St. Peter .
The Committee recalled that the proposition sought in principle agreement from the States for legislative changes which would facilitate the election of the Chief Minister through an Island-wide vote, with a poll of candidates being conducted in parallel with the election. Prior to a general election, all prospective candidates intending to stand for the role of Chief Minister would be required to declare this when submitting their nomination form as a Senatorial candidate.
The Committee had previously concluded that it could not support the proposals on the basis of the challenges associated with the practical application of the same.
The Committee, with the exception of Deputy L.M.C. Doublet of St. Saviour , approved the comments and requested that the Greffier of the States make the necessary arrangements for it to be presented to the States.
