Question

"Given that up until its closure, La Folie Inn on the Old Harbour had been a working public house, albeit run down, will the Minister explain what works, if any, have been undertaken within this listed building and outline -

  1. whocarried out this work and onwhose authority?
  2. whether planning permissionwasgiven for this work?
  3. how much will it cost to reinstate any aborted work andwho will pay for it?
  4. what the department'splans,ifany, are for this building?

Answer

  1. No internal works havebeen carried out within La Folie Inn since its closure as a public house. A structural report wascarriedoutby a potential developer in 2005which involved removingsomewall panels and flooring.
  2. Planning permissionwasnotgiven for this report to be carried out.
  3. Any repairs required will be madegood as part of the eventualredevelopmentof the site.
  4. Referring tomyanswer to Deputy Power's written questionof10th March 2009,work is on-going to vacate the entire La Folie site. This willbecompleted this summer when the workshops are relocated to the newlyconvertedformerHarbourWorks building at LaCollette.LaFoliequay is currently being master-plannedby Jersey Harbours,WEBand Property Holdings with the intention ofmaximisingthe value ofthewholesiteformarine leisure in the long term.
