Children, Education and Home Affairs Panel

This Scrutiny Panel considers and reviews; draft legislation, policies and other matters of public importance, arising from the work of the Minister for Children and Families, the Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning and the Minister for Justice and Home Affairs.

When undertaking its reviews, the Panel gathers evidence and views from the Government of Jersey, stakeholders and the public.  The Panel undertakes research, requests information, holds hearings and, on the basis of the evidence received, comes to conclusions on the topic before it.  This may lead to the presentation of a Scrutiny Report, or comments on a proposition; or the Panel may seek to amend a proposition or bring a proposition in its own name. The Panel makes findings and recommendations to the Ministers in its remit about the reviews it has undertaken, to which the Ministers are obliged to respond.
