COMMENTS

The Minister agrees that there is currently no provision within Standing Order 168 to notify the States Assembly that a land transaction has not been completed. Whilst the scenario in which a land transaction presented to the States Assembly does not proceed is very rare, the Minister agrees that the public record is potentially left inconclusive.

The Minister agrees with the proposed solution of notifying the Greffier of the States that a land transaction had not been completed, the Greffier would in turn ensure all States members were advised accordingly and that the public record of the transaction was conclusive.

The Minister thanks the Privileges and Procedures Committee for consulting with the Minister prior to lodging the proposition. The Minister supports the proposition and would ask Members to vote to accept this proposition.
