The States Assembly has agreed to provide compensation to Mesothelioma sufferers who have been exposed to asbestos in Jersey today (20th November 2018).
The proposition was brought by Deputy Carina Alves and was adopted with an amendment by the Minister for Social Security, Deputy Judy Martin, to provide the compensation under a statutory scheme.
The States also agreed to provide a loan for the conversion of the former St. Martin's Primary School for commercial and retail use. They adopted legislation to enable the removal of vehicles from private land and agreed Regulations which will introduce vehicle testing. A series of Regulations relating to care provision in Jersey were also adopted.
