States Meeting Summary Election of the Council of Ministers

The new States Assembly met today, Monday 11 July, to elect the Council of Ministers and the Chairs of Scrutiny Panels and Committees.
The Chief Minister designate Kristina Moore put forward her Council of Ministers, which were all successful. Only one of these roles were contested and went to vote.
Both Deputy Karen Wilson and Deputy Andy Howell were put forward for the role of Minister for Health and Social Services. The States Assembly voted Deputy Karen Wilson as Minister for Health and Social Services with 27 votes in favour.

All 11 Ministers have been appointed to form the new Council of Ministers, alongside Kristina Moore who has been appointed as Chief Minister.
- Deputy Ian Gorst has been appointed as Minister for Treasury and Resources
- Deputy Inna Gardiner has been appointed as Minister for Children and Education
- Deputy Kirsten Morel has been appointed as Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture
- Deputy Jonathan Renouf has been appointed as Minister for the Environment
- Deputy Philip Ozouf has been appointed as Minister for External Relations and Financial Services
- Deputy Helen Miles has been appointed as Minister for Home Affairs
- Deputy David Warr has been appointed as Minister for Housing and Communities
- Deputy Tom Binet has been appointed as Minister for Infrastructure
- Deputy Karen Wilson has been appointed as Minister for Health and Social Services
- Deputy Carolyn Labey has been appointed as Minister for International Development
- Deputy Elaine Millar has been appointed as Minister for Social Security
The meeting continues tomorrow Tuesday 12 July to elect the Chairs of Scrutiny Panels and Committees. Please find the Order Paper here, which includes the order proposed, as stated below:

- Chair of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)
- Chairs of the five Scrutiny Panels
- Corporate Services
- Economic and International Affairs

- Environment, Housing and Infrastructure
- Health and Social Security
- Chair of the Planning Committee
The process is the same for all appointments. Ministers will not be able to serve in these positions and nominations will be sought on the floor of the Chamber.
