At the end of the proposition, after the word "2007" insert the words ", e x c ept that –

(a ) in paragraph 4.6 (10th bullet point) (page 9) of the draft Code, for the word Scrutiny' substitute

the word Panel'; and

(b ) in paragraph 4.6 (11th bullet point) (page 10) of the draft Code, after the words in consultation

with' insert the words Panel Members and';".

CHAIRMEN'S COMMITTEE

REPORT

In order to make the draft Code of Practice for Scrutiny Panels and the Public Accounts Committee clearer in the section relating to the responsibilities of Chairmen, the Chairmen's Committee has made two minor amendments to paragraph  4.6 (10th and 11th bullet points).

The amendment to the 10th bullet point makes it clear that involvement from all Scrutiny Panel members should be sought in the work of the Panel. The amendment to the 11th bullet point includes Panel members in deciding which witnesses to call to give evidence.
