REPORT

Since  lodging  this  proposition  I  have  met  with  the  Minister  for  Economic Development and officers, and they have indicated that it may take some time to prepare a report in response to my proposals. Therefore I believe it is now appropriate to amend the effective date but also to seek agreement from the States not to increase tariffs in 2010.

Financial and manpower implications

The actions above, if agreed by the States, could reduce the dividend income received from the J.E.C.; however, the positive side is that it will significantly reduce the amount the various States Departments pay in electricity charges.

There are no manpower implications.
