The Policy and Resources Committee, to improve the machinery of Government, proposed and obtained States approval of an amendment of the States of Jersey Law 1966, providing for Committees to delegate any of their statutory functions to sub- committees, or to their senior officers. The Committee has received no evidence of any drawbacks arising from the degree of delegation that has been effected by individual Committees as a result of the Law change. The Acts of each Committee that has delegated powers, defining the scope of the delegation, have been presented formally to the States. They do not preclude an individual from requesting the Committee to review a decision made by a delegate. In these circumstances, the Committee considers it to be unnecessary to introduce legislation.
