HOUSING REGULATIONS: REDUCTIONS IN QUALIFYING PERIODS (P.73/2003) COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 8th July 2003 by the Policy and Resources Committee

STATES GREFFE

COMMENTS

If the States approve the Committee's migration proposals, a full review of the existing housing rules will be undertaken. This review could give consideration to the views expressed by the Deputy , to see whether they could form part of any future system.

The Committee does not believe that the States would be wise to accept such amendments in isolation and, given the uncertainty of outcomes which may follow on from their implementation – which may go far beyond those envisaged by the Deputy , they should be rejected.
