TAXATION POLICIES: A TRANSPARENT ENQUIRY (P.41/2004) COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 8th June 2004 by the Policy and Resources Committee

STATES GREFFE

COMMENTS

The Policy and Resources Committee considers that it is important the States should be able to debate the taxation proposals of the Finance and Economics Committee at an early opportunity as it believes that these will provide the Island with an integral part of the strategic framework that is needed to guide the development of the Island over the next 5 years.

The Policy and Resources Committee notes that the taxation enquiry proposed in Taxation Policies: a transparent enquiry' (P.41/2004) is of considerable complexity and would take at least several months to complete, if not significantly longer.
