ENVIRONMENT AND PUBLIC SERVICES: ESTABLISHMENT OF MINISTERS AND DEPARTMENTS (P.120/2005) COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 28th June 2005

COMMENTS

The Environment and Public Services Committee supports this proposition as it provides clarity for the new ministries and fulfils the specific requirements of P.70/2002 which acknowledged that further work was required to determine the exact structure for these organisations post implementation of ministerial government.

The Environment and Public Services Committee considers that in order for all on-Island transport to be the responsibility of one Minister, it is essential that the Driver and Vehicle Standards Department, currently residing in the Home Affairs Committee, is also transferred. This proposed transfer is subject to an amendment to this proposition.
