STANDING ORDERS: MINIMUM LODGING PERIODS – REVISION (P.194/2010) – COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 31st January 2011 by the Privileges and Procedures Committee

STATES GREFFE

2010   Price code: A  P.194 Com.

COMMENTS

Although a simple system of 2 and 6 week lodging periods was incorporated into Standing Orders following the States' decision to move to a system of ministerial government, the then Privileges and Procedures Committee had initially also thought of including a 4 week lodging period for certain categories of propositions1. This was changed  following  representation  from  States  members  in  order  to  reduce  the complexity of the system2.

Ultimately it is a matter for members to determine whether the 4 week lodging period should be considered.
