COMMENTS
Deputy R.G. Le Hérissier of St. Saviour 's amendment to his original amendment proposes that voter registration be removed from the terms of reference of the Electoral Commission. This is in accordance with the Committee's proposition P.5/2012.
As the Deputy states in his accompanying report, PPC has already established a Sub- Committee to review the Public Elections (Jersey) Law 2002 and voter registration falls within its remit.
The Sub-Committee invited all States members to attend a meeting on voter registration with Professor A. Lee on Wednesday 22nd February 2012. The event was well attended and further work will now be carried out by the Sub-Committee in this regard. The Committee is of the majority view that for the Electoral Commission to undertake a parallel review of voter registration would be an unnecessary duplication of workload.
