ISLAND PLAN 2022-2025: APPROVAL (P.36/2021) – SEVENTY-SIXTH AMENDMENT (P.36/2021 AMD.(76)) – COMMENTS

Presented to the States on 1st March 2022 by the Comité des Connétable s

STATES GREFFE

2021  P.36 Amd.(76) Com.

COMMENTS

The availability of visitor parking is an issue in both the urban and countryside areas of the Island and it is therefore a matter of concern for all Connétable s.

Whilst there remains a reliance on car use, whether this is petrol and diesel vehicles or more carbon-neutral electric vehicles, there will continue to be a need for adequate parking provision. This includes for residents and also for deliveries, trades people and care services.

The current lack of parking in many areas places demands on Parish resources in terms of  administration  of  parking  schemes  (residents  parking  zones),  and  policing  (by employed parking control officers or by the Honorary Police). These demands are likely to increase if sufficient off-street visitor parking is not provided.

The amendment is therefore supported by all Connétable s.
