What is the problem or issue the decision is trying to address?

Do children experience this problem differently from adults?

The Proposition is intended to extend the eligibility criteria for candidates standing for election in Jersey. It seeks to promote equality and diversity in our elected Assembly.

The decision would have no direct effect on children.

2)  Which groups of children and young people are likely to be affected?

Groups of children could include early years, primary or secondary education; young adults; children with additional learning needs; disabled children; children living in poverty; children from particular ethnic backgrounds; migrants; refugees; care experienced children and LGBTQ+ children

The decision is not likely to significantly impact any specific groups of children.

It would enable young adults aged 16 or above who are not British citizens but have lived on the island for 10 years the opportunity to stand in elections, who currently are not eligible.

3)  What is the likely impact of the proposed decision on children and on their rights?

The decision is not likely to significantly impact any children's rights articles. Indirectly it would allow greater opportunity for representation for reasons above.
