2 . In view of the cutbacks in other areas

F i n ance and Economics Committee propose c h a nges in the manner of publishing
p u b lic notices so as to provide savings
f o r the future?''
The President of the Finance and Economics Committee replied as follow -
1. I n the years 1992 and 1993 the
S ta t e s incurred £226,000 and
£2 2 3 ,0 00 (respectively) in respect
o f S ta t es' official notices and
o th e r a dvertisements in the local
m e d i a.
2 . In line with other initiatives which
a r e currently being implemented with
t he purchase of supplies and services
t h e Finance and Economics Committee w il l investigate the possibility of
e n te ring into a corporate contract with
t h e local media.''

the Sea-Fisheries (Jersey) Law 1962, as amended, made Regulations entitled the Sea-Fisheries (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment No. 9) (Jersey) Regulations 1994.
Springfield, St. Helier : purchase and relocation of Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society - P.131/94
THE STATES, adopting a proposition of the Island Development Committee, referred to their Act dated 8th June 1993, in which they approved the purchase of approximately 244,000 square feet of land at Springfield, St. Helier, as
shown on drawing No. 383/1, from the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society, and -
( a) agreed to enter into a contract with
t h e Royal Jersey Agricultural and
H o rticultural Society that provides for t h e public to make a payment of
£4 , 200,000, with each party being r e sp onsible for its own legal expenses, i n c onsideration of the following -
( i) the transfer from the Royal Jersey A g r ic u ltural and Horticultural
S o c ie t y to the public of all of
th e la n d and buildings known as
S p ri n g field, St. Helier , and
in c l u d ing the building on the
w e s te r n boundary as shown on
d ra w in g No. 445/1;
( ii ) the granting of a licence to the
R o y a l Jersey Agricultural and
H o r ti c ultural Society to continue
to o c cu py their existing offices
an d a n area of car park for their
o w n p urposes, until 31st December
1 9 9 5 o r such later date to be
ag r e e d by the Sport, Leisure and
R e c re a tion Committee, but in any ev e n t n o later than 30th April
1 9 9 6 ;
( ii i) the transfer to the Royal
Je r s e y A gricultural and

( c) authorised the Attorney General and the G re ffier of the States to pass on

a n d all interests therein;
( d) authorised the payment or discharge of t h e expenses incurred in connexion with t h e purchase of the said land, and of
a l l interests therein, from the Island

THE STATES, adopting a proposition of the Island Development Committee -
( a) approved the purchase from Mrs. Annie C o x on, née MacFarlane, of the property k n o wn as Stranton, La Rue à La Dame,
S t . Saviour, (as shown hatched on
d r a wing No. 444/1), required for
r e d evelopment for housing purposes, for a c o nsideration of £120,000, with the
p u b lic being responsible for the
p a y ment of all reasonable legal fees;
( b) authorised the Greffier of the States t o sign the said drawing on behalf of t h e States;
( c) authorised the Attorney General and the G re ffier of the States to pass, on
b e h alf of the public, any contract
w h ich it might be found to be necessary t o p ass in connexion with the
a c q uisition of the said property and
a l l interests therein;
