The Bailiff introduced Lieutenant-General Andrew Peter Ridgway, C.B., C.B.E., the newly appointed Lieutenant Governor of Jersey to the Assembly. Senator Stuart Syvret then welcomed His Excellency and Mrs. Ridgway on behalf of all the members of the States, whereupon Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway replied, indicating his intention of taking an active interest in the work of the Assembly.
