Ratification of the Agreement for the Exchange of Information relating to Tax Matters between the Government of Jersey and the Government of Japan P.13/2012

THE STATES, adopting a proposition of the Chief Minister, agreed to ratify the Agreement for the exchange of information for the purpose of the prevention of fiscal evasion and the avoidance of double taxation with respect to taxes on income of individuals between the States of Jersey and the Government of Japan as set out in the Appendix to the Report of the Chief Minister dated 2nd December 2011.

Ratification of the Agreement for the Exchange of Information relating to Tax Matters between the Government of Jersey and the Government of the Republic of Poland P.14/2012

THE STATES, adopting a proposition of the Chief Minister, agreed to ratify the Agreement for the exchange of information relating to tax matters, and associated agreements, between the States of Jersey and the Republic of Poland as set out in the Appendices to the Report of the Chief Minister dated 2nd December 2011.

Jersey Financial Services Commission: appointment of Commissioner P.29/2012

THE STATES commenced consideration of a proposition of the Minister for Economic Development concerning  the  appointment  of a Commissioner to the Jersey Financial Services Commission. The Bailiff , in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 82, ordered all strangers to withdraw from the precincts of the States and the doors of the Chamber to be closed.

THE STATES, having concluded the debate in camera, proceeded to vote in public assembly and in pursuance of Article 3 of the Financial Services Commission (Jersey) Law 1998, appointed Mr. Ian Wright as a Commissioner of the Jersey Financial Services Commission for a period of 5 years.

Prescription charges and income support for primary health costs P.20/2012

Following the rejection of paragraphs (a) and (b), the Bailiff informed the Assembly that paragraph (c) of the proposition requesting the Minister for Social Security to bring forward the necessary legislation to give effect to the proposals and to further request the Minister, in consultation with the Minister for Treasury and Resources and the Council of Ministers, to make the necessary financial provision in the draft Medium Term Financial Plan to be debated in September 2012 to allow the measures to be introduced from January 2013, was deemed to have been withdrawn.
