Arrangement of public business for future meetings
A proposition of Senator Lyndon John Farnham to suspend Standing Order 30 in order to enable the States to decide when the Vote of Censure: Minister for Treasury and Resources (P.61/2012) was to be debated was disallowed on the following grounds –
- the proposer of the proposition had already given proper notice in accordance with Standing Order 30(2) to list P.61/2012 for debate at a different meeting and a decision to suspend the said Standing Order could not have the effect of reversing that notice; and
- suspension of Standing Order 30 would not have the effect of introducing a positive requirement (contrary to Standing Order 30(2)) for a proposer to obtain the leave of the Assembly to defer a proposition.
