Electoral Commission: composition and terms of reference P.5/2012

THE STATES commenced consideration of a proposition of the Privileges and Procedures Committee concerning  the  composition  and  terms  of  reference  for  the  Electoral  Commission  and  rejected Part 1(a) to (c) of an amendment of Deputy Roy George Le Hérissier of St. Saviour that on line 1, for the number 3' there should be substituted the words 7 independent', and after the words members' the words of the States' should be deleted; after the word Chairman,' the words together with 3 other persons with' should be deleted and the word possessing' should be inserted; and after the word experience' the words who are not members of the States' should be deleted; paragraph (b) should be deleted and in paragraph (d) the words , in consultation with the States members appointed as Chairman and members,' should be deleted.
