Senator Sarah Craig Ferguson presented to the States a petition to request that the States support the Jersey Independent Lifeboat Service Committee in setting up an independent Jersey lifeboat station independent of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (R.N.L.I.).

JT Group Limited: restructuring of enterprise P.96/2017
THE STATES commenced consideration of a proposition of Senator Sarah Craig Ferguson entitled JT Group Limited: restructuring of enterprise' (P.96/2017) and, adopting an amendment of Senator Sarah Craig Ferguson (P.96/2017 Amd.), agreed that for paragraph (c) there should be substituted the following –
"(c) to request the Chief Minister to use the telecommunications strategy detailed in the attached
schedule as a foundation for developing a States telecommunications strategy;
(d) to request the Minister for Treasury and Resources, as shareholder representative, to request the board of JT Group Ltd. to conduct a detailed review of the off-Island businesses controlled by Jersey Telecom to evaluate their long-term benefit to the company.".
THE STATES, resuming consideration of the proposition of Senator Sarah Craig Ferguson, as amended, rejected the proposition –
- to agree that the enterprise of JT Group Limited (JT), should be restructured into two separate entities, JT Retail Limited and JT Infrastructure Limited, both initially to be wholly owned by the States;
- to request the Minister for Treasury and Resources, as shareholder representative, to bring forward the necessary legislation required to implement the division of JT into two separate entities for approval by the Assembly;
- to request the Chief Minister to use the telecommunications strategy detailed in the attached schedule as a foundation for developing a States telecommunications strategy; and
- to request the Minister for Treasury and Resources, as shareholder representative, to request the board of JT Group Ltd. to conduct a detailed review of the off-Island businesses controlled by Jersey Telecom to evaluate their long-term benefit to the company.
