Senator John Alexander Nicholas Le Fondré, in accordance with Standing Order 16(3), made a personal statement regarding responses he had provided on 4th June 2018 to questions he had received during the selection process for Chief Minister designate.

Appointment of Ministers

The Chief Minister designate announced, in the order in which he wished the States to vote on them, his intended nominations for Ministerial office and his proposals as to the Ministerial office to which each nominee would be assigned, as follows –

THE STATES, in accordance with Standing Order 117, appointed Ministers as follows –

Minister for External Relations

Senator Ian Joseph Gorst was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

In accordance with Standing Order 117(5), the candidate made a speech and was questioned. Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the Bailiff declared that Senator Ian Joseph Gorst had been duly elected as Minister for External Relations.

Minister for Treasury and Resources

Deputy Susan Jane Pinel of St. Clement was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

In accordance with Standing Order 117(5), the candidate made a speech and was questioned. Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the Bailiff declared that Deputy Susan Jane Pinel of St. Clement had been duly elected as Minister for Treasury and Resources.

Minister for Education

Senator Tracey Anne Vallois was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

In accordance with Standing Order 117(5), the candidate made a speech and was questioned. Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the Bailiff declared that Senator Tracey Anne Vallois had been duly elected as Minister for Education.

Minister for Health and Social Services

Senator Sarah Craig Ferguson was nominated by the Chief Minister designate. The Deputy of St. Ouen was nominated by the Deputy of St. Mary .

In accordance with Standing Order 117, each candidate made a speech and was questioned prior to a recorded vote being taken.

Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the Bailiff declared that Senator Lyndon John Farnham had been duly elected as Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture.

Minister for Housing

Senator Samuel Yves Mézec was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

In accordance with Standing Order 117(5), the candidate made a speech and was questioned. Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the Bailiff declared that Senator Samuel Yves Mézec had been duly elected as Minister for Housing.

Minister for Home Affairs

The Connétable of St. Clement was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

In accordance with Standing Order 117(5), the candidate made a speech and was questioned. Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the   Bailiff declared that the Connétable of St. Clement had been duly elected as Minister for Home Affairs.

Council of Ministers – constitution under States of Jersey Law 2005

The Bailiff advised members that, with all Ministers having been elected, the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers had been formally appointed to office in accordance with Article 19 of the States of Jersey Law 2005.
