No staff from the States Greffe were in attendance for this meeting, which was organised by the Chairman of the Committee. The decision was subsequently notified to the Committee Clerk, who prepared these Minutes.

Greffier of the  A1.  The Committee, with reference to Minute No. A1 of 17th August 2015 of the States –  Committee, as previously constituted, received a draft Proposition, requesting the States extension of  to consent to the extension of the contract of the Greffier of the States, Dr. M. Egan. contract.

1240(163)  The Committee recalled that Article 41(3) of the States of Jersey Law 2005 provided

for the appointment of the Greffier by the Bailiff , with the consent of the States Assembly. On 22nd September 2015, the States had adopted P.101/2015, Greffier of the States: consent to appointment', which had appointed Dr. Egan for a period of 5 years, with effect from 1st January 2016.

There had been a number of achievements, during Dr. Egan's 3½ years in post, which were detailed in the report to accompany the Proposition. Moreover, the experience that he had brought with him from his previous position as the Deputy Head of the Table Office in the House of Commons had been beneficial for Jersey.

The Committee noted that it was proposed to extend the Greffier's contract for a further 4 years, such that it would run until December 2024 and that the Chairman of the Jersey Appointments Commission had confirmed her approval for the same.

Accordingly, the Committee approved the Proposition and requested the Chairman to arrange for it to be lodged au Greffe' for debate on 16th July 2019.
