periods for the  The Committee was mindful that the minimum lodging period for the Government Plan Government  was currently 12 weeks; 2 weeks for any amendment thereto and for an amendment to Plan and  an amendment just one week, in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 26. amendments.  The Committee recalled that the Council of Ministers was of the view that that the 2 450/99/2(12)  week minimum lodging period for amendments to the Government Plan was too short,

because it did not afford the Council sufficient time to meet and discuss the implications thereof. Accordingly, it sought to extend the lodging periods for amendments and amendments  to  amendments  to  the  Government  Plan  to  3  weeks  and  2  weeks respectively.

The Committee was in agreement with this proposal and in order that States Members should not lose any time, once the Government Plan was lodged, for the preparation of amendments, proposed that the minimum lodging period for the Plan itself should be increased to 14 weeks.

The Committee received and approved a draft Amendment to Standing Orders to give effect to these changes, together with an accompanying report and instructed the Assistant Greffier (Chamber) to arrange for them to be lodged au Greffe' for debate by the States Assembly in the autumn.
