The Committee, with reference to Minute No. B5 of its meeting of 27th Amendment November 2020, received and considered a draft comments paper in relation to the of the Standing Proposition entitled Amendment of the Standing Orders of the States of Jersey to Orders of the Provide for Political Parties' (P.166/2020) lodged au Greffe by Senator S.Y. Mézec . States of The Committee noted that the Proposition requested that it be tasked with Jersey to investigating the appropriateness of bringing forward any amendments to Standing provide for Orders to enable the recognition that some elected members would be affiliated with Political a party, and outline their rights and responsibilities, as per the Commonwealth Parties' – Parliamentary Association's (CPA) recommended benchmarks. It was recognised Presentation of that this work already formed part of the Committee's response to the CPA Election Comments Observers' Mission Report recommendations.
The Committee approved the comments paper and requested the Deputy Greffier of the States to make the necessary arrangements for it to be presented to the Assembly as soon as practicable.
