Electoral  A1. The Committee, with reference to Minute No. B5 of 27th November 2020, of the Reform –  Committee  as  previously  constituted,  received  a  draft  Proposition  entitled  Draft approval for  Constitution of the States and Election (Jersey) Law 202-' which brought forward the lodging: Draft  legislative changes following the adoption of the Proposition entitled Composition and Constitution of  Election of the States: Proposed Changes' (P.139/2020).

Election  The  Committee  recalled  that  the  legislative  changes  had  been  brought  forward (Jersey) Law  following the work undertaken by the Election Observers Sub-Committee on proposals 202-  for electoral reform.

The Committee was advised that the legislative changes would implement paragraph (a) of P.139/2020, namely, to establish an Assembly of 49 Members, 37 elected from 9 new districts of comparable population size, plus the 12 Parish Connétable s. The legislation would also move the date of the next election to June 2022.

The Committee approved the draft Proposition and instructed the Principal Committee and Panel Officer to make the necessary arrangements for it to be presented to the Assembly as soon as practicable.
