Minister for Education – appointment  

In accordance with the provisions of Standing Order  117(2), the Chief Minister nominated Deputy Jeremy Martin Maçon of St. Saviour as Minister for Education.

In accordance with Standing Order 117(5), the candidate made a speech and was questioned. Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the Bailiff declared that Deputy Jeremy Martin Maçon of St. Saviour had been duly elected as Minister for Education.

Minister for Children and Housing – appointment  

In accordance with the provisions of Standing Order  117(2), the Chief Minister nominated Deputy Russell Labey of St. Helier as Minister for Children and Housing.

In accordance with Standing Order 117(5), the candidate made a speech and was questioned. Once the period of questions had concluded, there being no other nominations, the Bailiff declared that Deputy Russell Labey of St. Helier had been duly elected as Minister for Children and Housing.

Public Accounts Committee – appointment of unelected members

In accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 124(1), Deputy Inna Gardiner of St. Helier , Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, nominated Mr. Paul Van Bodegom as an unelected member of the Public Accounts Committee.

There having been no further nominations in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 124(2), the Bailiff declared that Mr. Paul Van Bodegom had been duly appointed as an unelected member of the Public Accounts Committee.

THE STATES, resuming consideration of the Draft Wildlife (Jersey) Law 202- the principles having been adopted on 3rd November 2020, commenced consideration of Articles 1 to 7 and, adopting the first part of an amendment of the Minister for the Environment (P.110/2020 Amd.(2)), agreed that, in Article 1, in paragraph (3)(c) for the words "whether or not" there should be substituted the words "even if".

THE STATES commenced consideration of Article 8 and rejected the first part of an amendment of the Deputy of St. Martin (P.110/2020 Amd.) that, for Article 8(3), there should be substituted the following Article –

"(3) The prohibitions in paragraphs (1) and (2) do not apply, except in relation to a bat of a

species listed in Part 1 of Schedule 3, to anything done within –

  1. the living area of a dwelling-house;
  2. the footprint of any domestic premises attached to a dwelling-house; or
  3. an area inside the curtilage of a dwelling-house and extending to no further than 10 metres from the exterior of the house.".
