Explanatory Note regarding subordinate legislation tabled at this Meeting

(See Item B)

R & O 60/2000

This Order provides for the closing of public roads and places to enable the holding of the Jersey Battle of Flowers, that is - (a ) th e Grand Town Parade on Tuesday, 8th August 2000;

  (b ) th e Battle of Flowers proper on Thursday, 10th August 2000; and

  (c ) th e Moonlight Parade on Friday, 11th August 2000.

The Order also sets out certain conditions relating to these closures.

The Order was made on 10th July 2000.

R & O 61/2000

The purpose of these Rules is to prescribe 30th September (instead of 31st July) as the date by which the States must have voted in favour of an item being included in the estimates of capital expenditure for the next financial year in order for that item to be considered during the Budget. (The new Rule replaces a provision prescribing a sum above which an item of capital expenditure needed prior approval because the Public Finances (Jersey) Law 1967 no longer provides for a sum to be prescribed).

The Rules were made on 10th July 2000 and come into force on 17th  July 2000.
