QUESTION PAPER (See Item G)
Senator S. Syvret will ask the following questions of the President of the Finance and Economics Committee -
"1. Will the President provide for the Assembly a detailed explanation of the differences between Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) and Gross National Product (GNP) in the context of Jersey, and as used in the Finance and Economics Committee publication The Future of our Tax & Public Spending Policies (the Consultation Paper)?
- Reference is made in the Consultation Paper to the Island's GNP and its annual percentage change. Will the President provide for the Assembly a detailed description of the methodology used to arrive at these figures?
- In paragraph 4 of page 5 of the Consultation Paper it is stated that "Public spending averaged £4,200 per head of the Island population in 1999, compared with a figure of £5,700 in the United Kingdom". Will the President provide for the Assembly a re-rendering of this comparison based upon purchasing power parity and will he include for comparative purposes the same calculation for each EU member state and the EU average?"
Senator S. Syvret will ask the following question of the President of the Policy and Resources Committee -
"Will the President inform the Assembly when a States of Jersey Statistical Digest was last produced and why production of the Statistical Digest has not taken place recently? Will he undertake to ensure that its production is resumed at the earliest opportunity?"
Senator P.V.F. Le Claire will ask the following question of the President of the Employment and Social Security Committee -
"(a) When a recent landslide occurred into The White House'
at Rozel Bay did your officers investigate on the grounds of Health and Safety?
(b) if so, what were the findings and if not what were the reasons for not having done so?"
Deputy P.F.C. Ozouf of St. Helier will ask the following question of the President of the Housing Committee -
"Would the President provide an update to the Assembly on the timing of the sales of the first-time-buyers units at Woodville -
- when will the units be completed and ready for occupation?
- when will the Housing Committee ask the States to approve the sale of the Units?"
Deputy P.F.C. Ozouf of St. Helier will ask the following questions of the President of the Planning and Environment Committee -
"At the last States sitting the President revealed that no instruction had been given to W.S. Atkins on the numbers of homes to be provided in the Island Plan and that the numbers fell short of the numbers in the draft David Couttie and Associates report.
Would the President reconsider this instruction and undertake to increase the numbers to be provided?"
