Explanatory Note  regarding subordinate legislation tabled at this meeting.

Article 1 standardises the phraseology of the principal Law so that nurses undergoing training are referred to throughout as student nurses'.

Article  2 ensures that medical treatment to an animal is only to be carried out by a veterinary nurse if the veterinary surgeon is satisfied that the nurse is duly qualified.

Article  3 provides additional safeguards where treatment is carried out by a student veterinary nurse. Article  4 is the usual citation and commencement provision.

The Order was made on 16th May 2003, and comes into force 7 days after it was made.

The purpose of this Order is to reduce the prescribed rate of interest on building loans from 10% to 7.5%. The rate was last altered in 1994.
