Report
These premises, known as the former Motor Traffic Garage, were originally acquired as part of Fort Regent by the Public from the Crown on 1st March 1958. The premises, which occupy a site of approximately 484 square metres, are situated directly adjacent to the Pier Road Multi-storey Car Park.
The premises have been occupied by the Sea Cadets Corps, Jersey Unit 477 since December 1996, on the basis of a licence agreement, at a nominal rental of £240.00 per annum. The property is used for the storage of boats and associated equipment in connection with the operation of the Sea Cadet Corps.
Towards the rear of the site is situated a "booster station", constructed by the Jersey Waterworks Company, and for which terms have been agreed by the Public Services Committee for the grant of a 99-year lease at £1 per annum, although the contract has yet to be finalised. The booster station would provide an adequate water supply for the Emergency Services in the event of a fire at Fort Regent.
The Public Services Committee is now seeking the approval of the States to the transfer of administration of the site to the Sport, Leisure and Recreation Committee.
