THE STATES are asked to decide whether they are of opinion -

  to a p p r ove the appointment of Mr. Robert Staddon as Chairman of the Jersey Council for Safety and Health at

Work for a period of six months with effect from 1st November 2000.

The States are asked to approve the appointment of Mr. R. Staddon as Chairman of the Jersey Council for Safety and Health at Work for a six-month period from November 2000 until April 2001. The present Chairman, Mr. N.N. Martin, retires from the Council this year. Mr.  Martin has been the Chairman of the Council for a period of 12 years. He has led the Council admirably through this period of considerable change. This will be in accordance with the Council's constitution which was approved by the States in July 1991.

Mr. Staddon has been a Council member for the past nine years. He is very enthusiastic and wishes to lead the Council through a complete review of its activities, a process which commenced during Mr. Martin's last term as Chairman of the Council.

Mr. Staddon, who is employed by the Jersey Gas Company Ltd., is a Chartered Engineer and a Member Of The Institute Of Gas Engineers.
