Report

The Poplars Day Centre is situated in the grounds of Overdale Hospital. The building was vacated when the Day Centre service was transferred to the new Sandybrook Day Care Centre.

It was originally planned to relocate the existing Colomberie Day Care Service, which is held in inappropriate accommodation, into this vacated building.

Due to severe difficulties being experienced within the General Hospital's existing Renal Dialysis Unit, the Health and Social Services Committee has approved a plan to create a new Renal Unit at the General Hospital. This unit will be located in the area presently used by the Noirmont Day Hospital service, which will itself relocate to the Poplars.

In order to accommodate both the Colomberie Day Care Service and the Noirmont Day Hospital, the Committee plans to extend the Poplars to provide a dual facility that will provide adequate space for both services.

Funding is to be provided from the Committee's 2000 Capital Programme which has been approved by the Policy and Resources Committee.
