PROPOSITION

THE STATES are asked to decide whether they are of opinion -

  in a c c o rdance with Article 6(2) of the Income Tax (Jersey) Law 1961, as amended, to appoint Mr. Malcolm

Campbell to the post of  Comptroller of Income Tax, with effect from 1st May 2001.

It is proposed that Mr. Malcolm Campbell is appointed as Comptroller of Income Tax in order to replace Mr. Robert Gaiger, the current Comptroller, on his retirement in the spring of 2001.

Mr. Campbell has been the Assistant Comptroller of Income Tax since 1986 and has worked for the Jersey Income Tax Department since 1978. He qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1977 and was elected to be a Fellow of the Institute in 1996. He holds a BA in Public Administration.

The appointment of Mr. Campbell as Comptroller of Income Tax is to be made under the provisions of the Income Tax (Jersey) Law 1961, Part III, Article 6(2), and will take effect from a date in the spring of 2001 which will coincide with the retirement of the current Comptroller of Income Tax.
