Report

The Health and Social Services Committee is progressing a project to develop the site shown hatched on drawing Nos. PHT 395 100 and PHT 395 080 as a Residential Nursing Home and Day Care Centre, with construction planned commence early in 2003.

The Residential Nursing Home will be designed for 28 residents with a link through to a Day Care Centre providing space for up to 30  people at a time. The home is part of the Health and Social Services Committee's strategic plan to decentralise the elderly services provided at Overdale into modern, smaller, purpose-built units, situated around the Island on sites closer to the population served.

It is therefore considered appropriate to transfer the administration of the site from the present Committee to the Health and Social Services Committee.

There are no financial or manpower implications resulting from the proposed transfer of administration.
