EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SECURITY COMMITTEE

REPORT

The Attendance Allowance Board meets every 2 to 3 weeks to decide whether the medical conditions of claimants to Attendance Allowance are such that an Attendance Allowance should be awarded. Under the Attendance Allowance (Jersey) Law 1973, a Board member is appointed for 3 years.

The Employment and Social Security Committee is very appreciative and grateful to the members of the Board for expressing a wish to serve for the next 3  years. The Board has maintained a balance of continuity, consistency and a spread of experience that is essential in assessing Attendance Allowance.

The Committee would also like to express its gratitude to Dr. D. Fullerton, who is standing down after many years' service on the Board and is being replaced by Dr. A. Reid, as one of the Medical Practitioner members.

There are no additional financial or manpower implications for the States arising from this proposition.
