STATES GREFFE

PROPOSITION

THE STATES are asked to decide whether they are of opinion

to a p point Dr. Robert Howard as a member of the Attendance Allowance Board in pursuance of Article  4

of the Attendance Allowance (Jersey) Law 1973, for the period ending 31st March 2006.

EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SECURITY COMMITTEE

REPORT

The Attendance Allowance Board meets every 2 – 3 weeks to decide whether the medical conditions of claimants to Attendance Allowance are such that Attendance Allowance should be awarded under the Attendance Allowance (Jersey) Law 1973. The current term of the Attendance Allowance Board will end on 31st March 2006 Attendance Allowance is one of the benefits to be incorporated into the income support system to be implemented in 2006 and it is likely the current Board's term of office will be extended until the implementation of that new system.

The Committee is grateful to Dr. D. Crill, who is standing down after many years' service on the Board, and who has contributed to the balance of continuity, consistency and experience that is essential in assessing Attendance Allowance.

The Committee is also grateful to Dr. R. Howard, who is joining the Board as a replacement. The adoption of this proposition will have no financial or manpower implications for the States.
