SHADOW SCRUTINY: APPOINTMENT OF MEMBER

Lodged au Greffe on 20th April 2004

by the Privileges and Procedures Committee

STATES GREFFE

PROPOSITION

THE STATES are asked to decide whether they are of opinion

to appoint the Deputy of St. Martin as a member of the Shadow Scrutiny Panels.

PRIVILEGES AND PROCEDURES COMMITTEE

REPORT

In approving Shadow Scrutiny: arrangements and approval of Chairmen and members', P.186/2003, on 20th January 2004, the States appointed members of the Shadow Scrutiny Panels, without stipulating which Panel each person would be a member of. Recently the Connétable of St. Mary has indicated his intention to resign because of pressure of work, and there is a need to appoint a further member to ensure sufficient numbers.

Deputy F.J. Hill, B.E.M. was formerly a member of the Privileges and Procedures Committee, and has a long standing interest in scrutiny matters. Senator E.P. Vibert has indicated that he will invite Deputy Hill onto the Shadow Scrutiny Panel he chairs.

There are no financial or manpower consequences arising from this proposition.
