A PEOPLE'S ADVOCATE (P.202/2004): COMMENTS
Presented to the States on 1st February 2005 by the Finance and Economics Committee
STATES GREFFE
COMMENTS
The Finance and Economics Committee estimates that the annual cost of adopting the proposals included within this report and proposition would be in the order of £500,000 to £600,000: such costs would place a further burden on already tight spending limits approved by the States at a time when the public demands financial constraint.
Furthermore, the Committee challenges the value for money of duplicating services currently provided, to such a high professional standard by the Law Officers' Department, to the States, its Committees and members and rejects any suggestion that the advice of the Law Officers is in any way compromised.
